Xbridge was founded in early 2000 from a vision developed during 1999 by the Company's CEO, Brad Liebmann. Brad provided the Company with its initial seed capital of €1 million. The company's original technologists moved in early 2000 from Barclays Capital. The team continue to form the core of Xbridge's development team. During 2000 the company also filed the initial patents that comprise the core of Xbridge's proprietary technology platform.

Shortly after its foundation Xbridge partnered with The Boston Consulting Group, who seconded several employees to the Company in exchange for a share of equity. In late 2000 Prudential plc invested in the Company, making a commitment of £5 million in capital. Prudential and The Boston Consulting Group made a further equity investment in early 2002.

Over the next few years Xbridge grew to become the UK's leading online broker focused on financial services for small businesses.
